EASTER EGG HUNT

Students worked in pairs to find plastic eggs hidden in our playground and they wrote down their precise location on a worksheet I handed out. When we were back in class they described it orally.

The Morning Meeting Book by Roxann Kriete

This is my favorite purchase.  I followed the recommendation of  Bridget from The Lettered Classroom and this book turned out really useful for me. I work in a school where we have to start every morning reflecting upon something that awakens the mind of our students at the same time we try to grow this sense of classroom community.

Classroom Spaces that Work by Marlynn K. Clayton

Terrific book if  you are in your rookie year as a teacher. It is not was I was looking for, I found it helpful though. Topics include arranging furniture, storing supplies, accommodating special needs and creating meaningful displays among others.

END-OF-YEAR STUDENTS GIFTS

Each year I try to do some sort of present for my students (see my 2015 gift here) . Unfortunately, 2017 turned out to be my busiest year so far, so I couldn't make anything for them. But I want to share with you what I gave them last year.

                                                          

                                                               KEEP IN TOUCH KIT

I saw the idea on Pinterest and decided to give it a go. It was time consuming, but it was worth it. Students had to write me a letter during their summer vacation and tell me what they were doing. 

I created these cute labels with Hello Fonts and a nice frame (all from Teachers Pay Teachers. I have to create a post on this site. I superduper love it!)

My investment was low: paper,  colored pens, stickers, washi tape and bakers twine.

ICE COLD POPSICLES

I took the idea from Pinterest and the labels from A cupcake for the teacher. I bought two big packets of ice cold popsicles and tied the labels with bakers twine.

Students loved their little gifts and it was really exciting to check my mailbox everyday!

HOW TO BLOW A BUBBLE (MORE PROCEDURAL WRITING)

I got this activity from The teacher wife and it really worked well. I gave my kids some bubble gum and we chewed and chewed. Then we practised blowing a bubble for a couple of minutes. After that we talked about the different steps for blowing a bubble and wrote down our own instructions!

This is the final result: an easy-to-do craftivity with a focus on procedural writing that involves inflating balloons. Whee!! Plus we decorated one of the windows on the stairs landing of our school.
